LESD PreKindergarten Academy

Welcome to the Pre-Kindergarten Academy (Pre-K).  The Pre-K daily program provides a variety of readiness activities to establish a solid foundation for success in school. The involvement of parents is an important component for any child’s future learning success and is therefore a necessary requirement of the Pre-K program. We operate two licensed facilities, the Alicante Pre-Kindergarten Program (License #153808570) and the Lamont Prekindergarten Program (License #153808571).

The Mission of the Pre-Kindergarten Academy (Pre-K) is to provide quality state funded preschool services that are culturally and developmentally appropriate. Additionally, the program strives to be a central and primary resource for children, families, and the community.  We do this by providing each child with a secure environment and program that supports the growth of the child’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through appropriate practices. The program believes that all children can achieve optimal physical and cognitive growth with the guidance and support of qualified staff members who understand the importance of a developmentally appropriate environment that encourages children to explore, discover and create according to their individual uniqueness. The program also recognizes the parent as the child’s first teacher and supports the cultural values of each family by providing a non-biased curriculum. We encourage all parents to join a partnership with the child’s teacher towards serving the needs of the whole child.

The Prekindergarten Program follows the regulations stipulated through the California Department of Education which requires implementation of the Desired Results Structure consisting of six basic results. We strongly believe that by working toward these goals for children and families, that every child and family will be stronger and able to succeed in school and in life.

These results and our goals for each child are:

Desired Results for children encompass the following developmental domains: Self and Social Development; Language and Literacy Development; English Language Development; Cognitive Development; Mathematical Development; Physical Development; and Health.
